Kodak Moments: Queenstown and Back

March 30, 2013
The drive from Christchurch to Queenstown, through the mountains and Lake Tekapo is absolutely breathtaking. With a few short detours, one can see beaches, rainforest, glaciers, high desert, and wine country… all in a 6 hour drive.

We chose to break up the drive on the way down and stop in Lake Tekapo, the first lake (on the map shown below) south east of Mount Cook. On the way home we drove from Queenstown (B) to Christchurch (A) via Oamaru (C). Oamaru is famous for it’s yellow eyed penguin sightings… and we saw two!

Lake Tekapo Lodge, highly, highly recommend for you romantics.
Eclectic and gorgeous art throughout the lodge, all hand picked by the owner. Can’t say enough good things. We’ll be back!

I miss you back mama. Don’t worry, we’ll be back… it seems my folks are in Hawaii all the time! Give V and the kids a hug for me 🙂

Come on, you must want to tell me something!
